Services
The HOPE Chest offers a family friendly, one-stop thrift store to get many of your necessary items such as clothing, furniture, and household items. Pickers especially love our store because we have many collectible items at what would be considered wholesale prices! In any event, we offer our items at affordable pricing to accommodate the people in our community.
Because we have a thrift store with many great item donors and customers, we are able to offer many great services that keep our local community fed and clothed. Please see our staple services below that we feel best provide for our local community.
The HOPE Cupboard
The HOPE Cupboard, located at 1416 N. 8th Street, is our recipient-choice food pantry dedicated to helping individuals and families access nutritious food and essential personal care items. Eligible recipients may shop once each month by simply presenting a valid form of identification. Our shelves are stocked through the generosity of community partners such as Midwest Food Bank, Peoria Area Food Bank, local businesses, churches, organizations, and individual donors. To better serve older adults in our community, we also offer a Senior Hour on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00–11:00 a.m., reserved exclusively for seniors. Open at least twice each week, The HOPE Cupboard is committed to providing consistent access to food and support, helping our neighbors meet their basic needs with dignity and respect.
Seeds of HOPE
The Seeds of Hope program is designed to help individuals and families who are working to rebuild their lives after experiencing a crisis, such as a house fire, homelessness, or other significant hardship. Through partnerships with local churches and social service agencies throughout the tri-county area, clients are referred to The HOPE Chest for additional support during their recovery journey. Seeds of Hope provides essential household items, clothing, and other necessities that help families establish stability and regain a sense of normalcy. By combining community partnerships with compassionate assistance, this program serves as a source of encouragement and practical support, empowering individuals and families as they move toward a brighter future.
Work2Earn
The Work2Earn program provides individuals with an opportunity to earn additional resources for their households while giving back to the community. Participants volunteer their time and talents within The HOPE Chest thrift store or The HOPE Cupboard food pantry, earning store credits based on hours worked. These credits can be used to obtain items that may fall outside the scope of other assistance programs, helping participants meet personal and household needs that might otherwise be out of reach.
More than just a resource program, Work2Earn promotes dignity, responsibility, and community involvement. By offering a pathway to earn needed items through meaningful service, participants gain valuable experience, build confidence, and play an active role in supporting the mission of The HOPE Chest while improving the well-being of their own families.
